Career - Music

My music career started very early when I was winning singing contests done at the old plaza
during town fiestas. I still remember the man who accompanied me singing “Sad Movies”
with his accordion. My uncle, who imitated Elvis Presley, showed me how to play the ukulele.
By fifth grade, my dad took me to a piano teacher who knew him when they were in college.
With two years of piano lessons, and the incessant prodding of my mother, I detoured from BS
Biology classes, and finished with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.
My earning income years took place in schools as K-8 music teacher, and as choir director,
pianist, organist, in various denominations. Outside of music, part time jobs, and other continuing education on various fields of interest and curiosity, I earned an Associate Degree in Ministry. Over the years, I’ve enrolled in writing courses honing my interest in writing memoir, essays, and poetry. I’ve retired from classroom music teaching, but still maintain a piano studio teaching forty students school age and adults.
